Kate Block, Ph.D.


Kate Block is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Amsterdam.

Kate received her Ph.D. in Social-Personality Psychology from UBC in 2020, her M.A. in Social-Personality Psychology from UBC in 2015 and her B.A. in Psychology (with Honors) from UBC in 2013.

She is interested in how stereotypes about an individual’s social groups influences their self-concept. Kate examines this relationship at an explicit and implicit level. Currently, Kate is interested in how gender stereotypes influence men and boys’ communal values and participation in communal roles.
